A Bright Begining to 2012!

January

It has been a busy start to 2012 for FBN, just as everyone settled in on their return, 2 drivers were getting ready to return home. They had driven to and from St Moritz in Switzerland, transporting equipment for a huge private new years party. The trucks carried DJ equipment, lighting rigs and party effects for the event held at the 5 star Survetta House Hotel located within the world famous ski resort.

The drivers had to carefully negotiate snow covered mountain roads to reach the remote resort but they arrived safely at the venue in good time. The event was a huge success and was attended by some of the most famous and wealthy people from around the world. The drivers captured some fantastic shots of the trucks one of which can be seen on the right. (Please check out the photo gallery for the rest!).

A truck load of equipment was taken into the Excel Centre in London Docklands for The London Boatshow which took place between 6th and 15th January.

An FBN artic was dispatched to the Merry Hill Shopping Centre in the West Midlands during the early hours of Friday 6th January to collect the malls Christmas displays and decorations ensuring that the centre was returned to its non-festive appearance before the arrival of the weekend shoppers.

Other overseas exploits during the month saw two artics dispatched to Istanbul and trucks also heading to Porto and The Algarve for large high spec events.

Stayed tuned throughout the year for monthly FBN updates!

Touring Begins Early in 2012

The touring seemed to begin early than ever in 2012 with no fewer than 12 acts hitting the road in the opening month of the year!

One of first to head out was Stomp, the 2 trucks reloaded the set, props, lighting and sound rigs in the UK during the first week of January before heading out to Germany for shows in Berlin and Cologne. Its shaping up to be another busy year of touring for the hit show as its popularity shows no sign of waining.

Billy Connelly quickly followed with an FBN 25t carrying equipment for his lengthy UK tour which is set to run through until March.

Many of FBNs music clients were also back on the road early in 2012. Snow Patrol rolled out on their UK arena tour with 8 artics. The Australian Pink Floyd Show headed for Europe with 3 artics. Dream Theater kicked off their European dates with shows in Finland also involving 3 trucks. Other artists hitting the road in a busy January were All Time Low, Asking Alexandria, Alfie Boe, Panic at the Disco, James Morrison, Chris Rea, Kaiser Chiefs and Gavin Degraw.

The end of the festive break spells the end of Panto season and the FBN fleet travelled the length and breath of the country to load out from some of the UKs best known theatres. Whether it was Cinderella from Inverness or Jack and the Beanstalk from Guildford the trucks arrived on the evening of the final performance to re-collect the set and props and return them to stoarge for safe keeping.

Its sure to be another very busy year of touring for FBN so stayed tuned throughout for the latest news!

New Trucks

As we enter the last quarter of 2009 I thought it was about time we updated our news page.

Well what a busy year its been. We made the decision last year to invest heavily in 22 new euro 5 trucks this year and a further 24 new trucks next year. We took delivery of the first eight in March and a further six in August, raising the size of our fleet to 62 trucks and another eight still to be delivered. All the new trucks are low ride / mega cube Daff 105 super space cabs with the greenest available emissions rating of euro 5. Due to the ever increasing restrictions on older vehicles not been able to enter most European cities next year and the Dutch placing an out right ban on HGVs over eight years of age, we are more than confident we have managed to stay ahead of the impending legislation along with doing the best we can environmentally.

As for bands touring this year we have been fortunate to have toured with over fifty six different acts starting off with a mammoth tour for Chris Brown, leading on to The Killers been out at the same time as Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs, James Blunt, Block Party, Franz Ferdinand The Prodigy and Fall Out Boy to mention but a few. Then came the start of the festival season which always keeps our logistics team on their toes. With more and more bands wanting to fit in as many festivals as possible it seems double and triple drives become the normal scenario at this time of year. Now we are moving towards the start of the Christmas tour season Eddie Izzard has gone on tour with seven artics all logoed with a picture of the man himself and his name emblazoned down both sides and rear of the trailers, a great sight to be seen. Some of the tours we are trucking at the moment include Bocelli, Massive Attack, Skunk Anansi, Will Young, The Prodigy and The Specials, and joining them next month will be Snow Patrol, James Morrison, Ian Brown , White Lies, Basment Jax and David Gray. It looks like theres no early finish for the Christmas break either, with Eddie Izzard performing his end of tour show in Oslo on December 21st the trucks will be double driven back to the UK to enable tipping on Christmas Eve along with 2many DJs after there Paris show on the 23rd and Stomp will be returning from Bordeaux.

Once again we would like to thank all our clients for the continued support so far this year

News update 2008

Firstly, welcome back!  It's been a busy year since the last update - we'll be trying to keep the news section updated a bit more regularly, so keep checking back.

We’ve come to the end of another busy summer festival period, and once again Fly By Nite has had a strong presence at all the major events, with a diverse range of artists including The Killers (headlining Reading and Leeds), Amy Winehouse, Biffy Clyro, Chemical Brothers, Tenacious D, The Fratellis, The Feeling, Supergrass, The Raconteurs and The Hoosiers.  In spite of some less-than-glorious weather, all the events went smoothly, although many of the trucks needed a good hose-down on their return!

We are on tour across Europe at present with Robyn, who is special guest to Madonna on what is doubtless one of the most talked-about tours of 2008.  Stomp also continues its unstoppable world tour.  Recently, we've also seen extensive runs from Dolly Parton, Portishead, Editors, Prodigy, The Twang, Goldfrapp, Massive Attack, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Julio Iglesias, The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Queens of the Stone Age, James Taylor and Pendulum as well as UK stadium shows by the Foo Fighters.  Following on from our work for the Led Zeppelin re-union last December, we were also pleased to welcome back the illustrious Robert Plant for his tour with Alison Krauss in support of their acclaimed 'Raising Sand' album.

Right now we are gearing up for a busy end to the year, with big tours coming up for the likes of James Blunt, Feeder, Charlatans, Fall Out Boy, OMD and Level 42 amongst many others.  Pendulum and Goldfrapp are also heading back out shortly.  We're also pleased to welcome more up-and-coming acts like Foals, The Automatic and The Ting-Tings to our extended family of established artists.

As usual, we would like to thank all of our friends and clients for their continued support so far this year.

With big releases and tours in the pipeline over the next few months for The Killers, Keane, Razorlight, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand and many others, it looks like 2008 will be going out with a bang!

September 2008 Conference Update

The summer event schedule has had no let-up, with Fly By Nite supporting our clients at shows and conferences across the UK and Europe.  One of the more spectacular events we were involved in took place at this year's Motor Show in London, when we provided logistical support to a mammoth stunt centrepiece involving a car being dropped over 100 feet from a crane-mounted flying saucer, landing and driving away!

We have just returned from the 3-month long dynamic Nissan GTR launch roadshow at dealerships across the continent, which has taken in over 60 cities and has been a runaway success for Nissan.

At present we are involved in a number of medical conferences in Turkey, as well as various other events of all sizes in (amongst other places) Athens, Lisbon, Rome, Gdansk, Barcelona, Stockholm, Hanover and even the 'magic kingdom' itself, Disneyland Europe, as well as at venues across London.

We were honoured once again at this year's TPI Awards, which, naturally, we were very pleased with; we feel this reflects the dedication and hard work that the FBN team invest in making sure our clients' goals are achieved and their expectations are exceeded.  We look forward to working with you all again in the near future.

Latest 2007 News

Following on from a busy summer we went straight in to a busy touring schedule September through to Christmas.
Firstly can we begin by once again thanking all of our clients and friends for their wonderful and hugely appreciated confidence and support.
Four long running tours were coming to an end - Snow Patrol's worldwide tour culminated with an outdoor show at Ward Park in Northern Ireland. Likewise Faithless ended their current world tour with a run beginning in Brixton - London, ending with a huge indoor show in Arnhem.
The Fratellis also concluded with a Scottish arena tour and Razorlight played their last European shows of the current year.
Erasure set out on a European / U-K tour, Athlete began a comprehensive U-K tour as did The Editors, The Enemy, Ian Brown & The Twang along with Reverend & The makers.
Billy Connolly had begun a two month U-K tour & David Sylvian and Dream Theatre had set out on lengthy European tours.
Chemical Brothers continued on their worldwide tour visiting Moscow – St Petersburg – Kiev – Budapest & London late September into October. Then headed back out to Europe in mid November culminating with a U-K arena tour in December.
The European tour proved eventful for all of the wrong reason – The tour was overnighting from Bratislava to Bologna 26th/27th November (the trucks were all being double driven) when the gear box on one of the trucks 'blew up' an hour from the Austrian / Italian border at around 6am. A huge team effort ensued throughout the office, and through sourcing a replacement low ride Vehicle and two fresh drivers the trailer arrived in Bologna late pm (we had earlier swapped trailers to ensure that Production arrived and loaded in to the venue early afternoon) and the show was up and running less than an hour later. The show was universally acclaimed as being one of the best of the tour.
Early October saw Rufus Wainwright head out on a two month European tour – Amy Winehouse headed off to Europe followed by an extensive U-K tour, both Ray Lamontagne and Ladysmith Black Mombazo both began U-K theatre tours as did Bowling for soup/Bloodhound Gang.
Late October saw no let up at all as both The Foo Fighters and My Chemical Romance embarked on month long European / U-K tours - The Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party also set out on month long European tours, before both of them returning to the U-K in December for U-K arena tours.
Early November saw Marilyn Mansun set out on a two month European tour - beginning in St Petersburg on the 10th of November and ending In Tallinn on the 22nd of December. The beginning of the tour proved interesting, whilst the production trucks headed down to Lisbon for a load in on the 18th November the backline truck left Moscow after a show on the 14th November, met with a smaller Vehicle on the Russian / Latvian border to transfer some of the backline which then double drove to Montpellier for a show on the 17th, arriving at 11am on show day.
Comedian Bill Bailey set out on a month long U-K arena tour on the 3rd November, closely followed by Rihanna who began a European / U-K arena tour on the 10th of November.
We were also working in November with Alex is on Fire - Sia - Thunder - Unkle - The Klaxons - Mary Black - Foreigner - Biffy Clyro - Queens of The Stone Age - Thin Lizzy & Black Rebel Motorcycle club.
Tours beginning and concluding in December were The Pogues and Ocean Colour Scene - We also began our annual Christmas / New Years arena tour with the CBeebies.
